Our approach
Why rankings alone stopped being enough
A large share of Google searches now end without a click — the answer appears on the results page or in an AI Overview. Ranking first is still valuable, but it no longer connects neatly to revenue, and any report that leads with positions is measuring the wrong thing.
What matters is whether the right people find you, trust what they see, and get in touch. That’s what we optimise for and what we report on.
How AI assistants decide who to recommend
When someone asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, it looks for businesses whose information it can read, verify and trust:
- Readable: clear headings, direct answers and schema markup on your website
- Consistent: the same name, address, phone and category on your site, Google profile and directories
- Corroborated: recent reviews and mentions on other trusted sites
Most small business websites provide none of these deliberately. That’s the opportunity — and it’s why AEO and GEO sit alongside traditional SEO in everything we do.
